She began recording herself on a double cassette player by the age of five, and performing original songs at open mics by fourteen, often in bars she wasn’t technically allowed into using her older sister’s ID. A self-sufficient artist in every sense, Janine writes, produces and engineers her own music, often recording in her closet rather than in big studios. Her creativity extends beyond sound, as she crafts her own visual narratives, designs artwork and merch, and directs and edits her own videos.
