About Balloon Ride Fantasy
Balloon Ride Fantasy is a 6-piece indie electropop/fantasy rock band whose Spring 2015 record release includes original music inspired by pop nostalgia and fantasy fiction films. The Pittsburgh, PA based band combines rich instrumentation, vocal harmonies and imaginative lyrics to create a colorful sonic escapade. Their songs range from upbeat and dance-floor-ready to moody, lovely and contemplative. Here are some nice things people are saying about them:
"One of the top synth pop releases of the year."
- Indie Rock Cafe
“This was one of the greatest surprises I have ever had submitted here! I could NOT stop playing this! One track after another. Amazing! I had a hard time even narrowing it down to which are my favorites. I am unsure ANY band featured here has ever gotten three nods in a single month before.”
- theindieplaylists.com, (Chicago).
"The album is an easy listen, one that could be put on repeat and heard over and over again. Each track is unique and offers a look inside the bands fantasy world.
- Sound Scene Express
“Incredibly intricate, fun, poppy, progressive…they create music that is both precise and entertaining, full of life while simultaneously technically detailed.”
- Writing on the Floor.
“Think reams of melodic lines with first single “Species,” which recalls Mates of State, while influences such as the Postal Service and Of Montreal can be noted throughout.”
– Pittsburgh Magazine
“For Balloon Ride Fantasy, every piece is ever present in their sound and you appreciate how they've crafted their sound to utilize every instrument very well."
- Pittsburgh Music Report
“There are many reasons why this band sticks out among the rest in the scene.”
- The Globe Newspaper
“Synth with substance….it’s cohesive, listenable music.”
- Beaver County Times
“Their presentation level is remarkable. A whirring atmosphere of laser and neon, all synced to their bouncy 80s synths.” – Vincent Poprocky, Delicious Pastries
“[Balloon Ride Fantasy] is a fully equipped New Wave/synth-rock band with pulsing/pounding electronics, intricate guitars, dance beats, catchy hooks and just the right amount of weirdness. It gets an extra lift from the dreamy interplay of singers.” - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
“The six-piece "fantasy rock" band sounds like something out of a sci-fi thriller — think Daft Punk meets Swimming With Dolphins, with spacey vocal harmonies...From the opening notes of "Species," the first single of Balloon Ride Fantasy's new self-titled full-length, the band makes something very clear — the song could only be theirs.” – Pittsburgh City Paper
