About Kevin Critchley

Kevin Critchley is a Liverpool based singer-songwriter known for his compelling performances, powerful vocals and flamenco style guitar playing. With comparisons to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Bruce Springsteen, Critchley delivers a unique mix of poetic, tale-telling lyrics and upbeat rock/folk music. Kevin bought his first guitar aged 11 at a car boot sale after hearing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born To Run”, the song he claims changed his life. Growing up he listened to the likes of Neil Young, The Beatles and Ian McNabb, who later asked Critchley to support him at renowned Liverpool venue ‘The Philarmonic Hall’ after seeing him perform at an Open Mic. McNabb praised Critchley’s songwriting and musicianship, stating that he “should be playing bigger venues”. Kevin went onto record debut EP ‘Think It Over’ followed by debut album ‘Scars’, landing him support slots with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Sharon Corr, James Walsh, Amsterdam and Ruarri Joseph. In 2012 Critchley formed 5 piece band “The Fifth Movement’, who described themselves as ‘dramatic acoustic music’. The band released ‘Roll Of The Dice’ EP and later won a local competition to open up the main stage at ‘Chester Rocks’. The band split shortly after and he continued writing and playing under his own name and built up a new lineup of drums, bass, piano and violin to back him. Critchley has since played a number of gigs across the UK, building up a loyal fan base and setting a firm, respectful place on the Liverpool music scene. Kevin is currently preparing for the release of his second studio album ‘As I Disappear’, recorded at top Liverpool studio ‘The Motor Museum’ with producer Al Groves. The 10 track album features powerful debut single ‘Ghosts’ due for release in Summer 2015.
