In the Autumn of 2008 Brooklyn’s Swimclub wanted to call it quits. Their obscurity had settled in for the long haul. “We were fed up with being Swimclub” singer Greg Adams laments. “Where were all the sycophants and toadies? Making music just for the hell of it was starting to be a real drag.” Fortunately, the band hunkered down in the studio and re-dedicated themselves to the art of selling out. “It’s the reason we started in the first place” guitarist Gene Davenport says. “I think we lost that somewhere along the way.” Musical Act.
