About Γιάννης Αγγελάκας
Γιάννης Αγγελάκας (most of often scrobbled as Giannis Aggelakas in English) is a singer, musician, poet and actor. He became widely known as the lead singer and frontman of the famous Greek rock band Τρύπες (Trypes in English) from 1984 to 2000 when the band disbanded.
He was born in 1959 in Thessaloniki, Greece. After Τρύπες disbanded in 2000 he continued his work in music by collaborating with artists like Νίκος Βελιώτης (English: Nikos Veliotis) and the group Επισκέπτες which means "Visitors" in Greek. The result of that collaboration is the album "Από δω και πάνω" that they released as Γιάννης Αγγελάκας & Οι Επισκέπτες. The album received praise by critics and fans alike and was followed by a series of full band concerts all over Greece.
A second album is rumored to be in the making.
Γιάννης Αγγελάκας has also released two collections of his poems. "Σάλια, μισόλογα και τρύπιοι στίχοι" and "Πώς τολμάς και νοσταλγείς τσόγλανε;" that are both accompanied by his own drawings.
During 2005 he had a weekly radio show with Ντίνος Σαδίκης.
He has made appearances on various greek films such as "Χώμα και νερό" (Earth and Water), "Ο χαμένος τα παίρνει όλα" (Loser takes all) and more. For most of those he has also written songs for the soundtracks.
