About Clipse
American hip hop duo. Formed in Norfolk, Virginia in 1992, the group is made up of brothers Gene "Malice" Thornton and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton.
The Clipse met record producer Pharrell of The Neptunes during the early part of the 1990s, and Williams helped them secure a deal through Elektra Records. The group's debut single flopped, and Williams resuscitated their careers in the early 2000s, signing them to Arista Records through his Star Trak imprint. Star Trak/Arista released The Clipse's debut album, Lord Willin', on August 20, 2002; the album includes their top 10 R&B/Hip-Hop single "Grindin'".
In 2005, The Clipse began to release a series of mixtapes entitled 'We Got It For Cheap' as a new group dubbed 'The Reup Gang' hosted by Clinton Sparks and featuring two new group members: Ab-Liva and Sandman. The pair of mixtapes was critically well-received and featured popular tracks like "Zen."
Their latest studio effort, "Hell Hath No Fury" was released on November 28th, 2006 to much critical acclaim. Two singles have been released so far from the new album. The first, "Mr. Me Too" featuring Pharrell, was released on May 23rd 2006, followed by "Wamp Wamp (What It Do)" featuring Slim Thug, which was released on October 31st 2006.
The Clipse recently held an online freestyle contest in which the winner would get a spot on the upcoming We Got It For Cheap Vol. III mixtape. The contest was won by AntFeLLA.
