About Big Light
“It’s the great Bay Area face melt” - Daytrotter
Big Light was born in San Francisco’s Mission District in 2006, and immediately stole the hearts
of many on the local indie scene. 17 years and 6 albums later, the band achieved cult status in
their home town & have proven themselves reliable for delivering high-energy,
heart-on-their-sleeves live sets. 2022-23 saw memorable gigs in New Orleans & the Bay Area
with longtime confederates Rotary Downs and The Slip, as well as a surprise set of Bowie
covers at Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre, with Greg Loiacono of the Mother Hips augmenting the
quartet for the occasion.
2024 will see Big Light return to Nola to host their 3rd annual JazzFest after-party. In the
meantime, the band is finishing work on a new LP with engineer & collaborator Kevin
Friedrichsen, slated for release this fall.
