About The Van Jets
The Van Jets are a rock group from Belgium.
The history of The Van Jets is one with many beginnings and false starts.. A bassist and guitar player decide to switch places, the singer suddenly starts pounding away on the drums because nobody else wants to,...and with the brothers Verschaeve quarreling everything into further chaos, there seemed little hope for any progress.
But, on July 2003 the Ostendians Johnny, Tsjeenie, Freddie and Mich found a deep basement in Ghent where - under Johnny's reign of terror - they could finally start rehearsing new songs. In October their raw guitar riffs and vocal harmonies fought a way through the moisted walls and into their first gig, only 40m away, at Kana Karam cafe. Soon thereafter the idea to produce an 8-track demo evolved, and in November, after a month of frustration, four of their songs were cut on a demo disc.
It was also about that time that the legendary T-shirt concert took place in the Kozzmozz..
In the nick of time, the demo also found its way into Humo's mailbox, in an attempt to be selected for the bi-yearly Rock Rally. It was, and the road was set for a most unexpected adventure..
Two positive reviews and many reactions later, they were waving a 10,000 € cheque with shakey hands, on the sacred stage of the Ancienne Belgique - money which they immediately invested in coke, vinyl and a year supply of take-away chinese. Once again broke, they decided to proceed with shows in places as De Handelsbeurs, in the fore program of Fifty Foot Combo, at Dourfestival, Suikerrock and in front of a large homecrowd on the Paulusplein in Oostende. ... to be continued... (source: www.thevanjets.com)
This band won the finals of Belgian's biggest Rock Rally with their third gig being the preselection.
Meanwhile they have record an EP called Belvédère Records and they are working on a LP due the 10th of February 2007.
Said EP is now a collector's item and their debut CD 'Electric soldiers' finally saw the light of day to outstanding reviews.
