About Six Acre Lake

In 1997, while sitting in a booth at the Locust Bar in Philadelphia, guitarist John Schlicter and drummer Jeremy Beaudry formed Six Acre Lake. The idea was simple enough, two dudes writing and recording instrumental tunes. The reality of trying to reconcile our love for hip hop beats and synth gurgles juxtaposed against our infatuation with math rock and all things heavy and cinematic was not so simple nor was moving forward while reassessing the possibilities with every song / note and crafting a jumble and blur, a variety of aesthetics all existing in one place. To include all of the agile post punk tendencies we had as musicians while never fully abandoning the hook and the love of a great beat. After a few self realized recordings the mighty Mr. Beaudry eventually sought a different path and stepped away from music... Enter drummers Joe Getz (Mercury Radio Theater) and Mark Sconyers (Do You Need The Service). Both of these fine Philadelphians participated in a Six Acre Lake writing and recording frenzy. The fruits of that labor is currently finding itself pressed to 180 grams of self released vinyl sweetness. For booking: johnschlicter@yahoo.com
