About slee
Born in 1994, he says his musical performances began at age three with the song “I Believe I can Fly” by R Kelly which he’d heard on the movie “Space Jam.” He says he incessantly sang “ into an echo microphone when he was a four year old, and after wearing out that hit, he grew into gaining an ear for rappers like Tupac, Biggie, and his all time hero, Eminem. Despite physical abuse by his stepfather and witnessing other types of abuse laid upon his mother and younger brother, he believes his experiences, bad as they were, made him stronger. This is the impetus that makes him want to reach out to others when they are suffering. Music became a refuge for him. “The mental and verbal abuse that happened to my Mom, the physical abuse and the times I had to hide my bruises on my arms, the times I had to sleep outside. It was the environment I was raised in,” he says. In those times, “I’d put headphones on and get lost in the music.” It was when he was 15, while rummaging through a closet, that he discovered the man who was the source of this abuse was not his real father, and that his real father’s last name was Scrivo. It was a turning point, leading him toward understanding more about himself and others. A song called “Here For You”, a more polished musical production than his first recording efforts. This song combines his own rap lyrics with a melodic beat and a simply spun video full of the sights of downtown Mobile, from glimpses of a stairwell leading to the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception’s crypt to sky views of the city, with the RSA and Van Antwerp buildings in the background. Even a few scenes of Mobile’s riverfront float behind his music. It is already available on YouTube.Sutton is committed to being a positive example of how to turn our trials into testimonies, through the genuine pursuit of God, and in doing so, minister to people through "real" music. Sutton has independently released 3 projects and recently the New free full length album, "Steele Got It". His lyrical composition is 100% from the heart; demanding a response, a call to action, for believer and unbeliever alike! Unique, talented, and charismatic. One word summed up Real. Few people sing honestly from their heart and soul. I do, combining art, story, and song in perfect unison. God given gift since three. Writing all my songs since five.
