About The Ruins

There are two bands with this name

1)The Ruins was conceived in 2003 as a project which would intend to combine the brutality and savagery of death and black metal with a more emotional and melancholic style, explored through the use of layer-based structures and melodic shapes.

In 2004 a couple demo tracks were circulated under a different name, meeting with good response. After several months it was decided that the ashes of this early project be buried and a new incarnation arise, under a new moniker, The Ruins.

The "Withering Of Mankind" demo was "released" and circulated mostly online in mid-2005. After a hiatus the project received new inspiration, and new material is currently emerging, which will hopefully culminate in a high-quality EP/MCD in 2008.
Some influences are: Dark Funeral, Novembre (Catacomb), Shape of Despair, Abigor, Nile, Schaliach, The Legion, Dawn (Swe), Enslaved, Fog, etc.

2) Garage rock band from the 1960's
