About Elizabeth Cornish

Elizabeth Cornish doesn’t tell stories. Instead she gives you a tantalizing glimpse into her world and invites you to fill in the gaps for yourself. Following a number of studio releases with her band, “Where Were We Then”, her first home recorded album, sees Cornish return to her musical roots as a solo, acoustic artist. Her cathartic songs, overflow unashamedly with raw emotion. They are simultaneously fragile and powerful, and although they touch on dark and painful subject matter, they are never melancholy. On the contrary, Cornish’s poetry, infectious choruses and waltzing guitar lines lift you up and leave you feeling hopeful.

While her debut album, “Displaced” dealt with her struggle to make sense of her nomadic upbringing, “Where Were We Then” is an expressive journey about enduring love, personal loss, and grief. Inspired by folk, country and indie-pop singer-songwriters including Laura Marling, Lucy Rose, Jason Isbell and John Moreland to name a few, Cornish effortlessly weaves elements of these genres into her delicately crafted songs while remaining undeniably true to her artistic origins as a through and through singer-songwriter.

“Where Were We Then” will be released on 27th April 2018 and is available through Timezone Records.

Reviews:

"A set of almost agonisingly delicate folk. Setting the tone for the stage, their slot in The Musician Tent is exceptional if somewhat understated ... Stand-out tracks come in the form of ‘Folds’ which is lyrically masterful in a way which is rarely matched and ‘The End’ which takes the folk template and imbues it with a perfect pop chorus. She flaunts parallels with early naughties pop-folkers like Beth Orton et al in both vocal style and subject matter, but never imitates anyone throughout what is a joyous start to the weekend."

"Elizabeth has a simply amazing voice, akin to Florence and the Machine, which fits perfectly with the dulcet strings from her guitar and Jason’s bass."

"Quintissential contempory Brit folk, with a voice both tender and mature - one to watch out for."
- Darren Knockles - The Musician - http://bit.ly/2KUXm

"Immensely compelling songs which instantly draw you in and immediately tingle on your senses."
