Chasing Pictures

A Bentonville, Arkansas based band, Chasing Pictures radiates a captivating energy both on and off stage. As Ashley Nance, founder/ blog owner of EarPlugsNotIncluded, aptly writes, “Their sound, their feel wins you over instantly… you’re sucked in before ‘go’.” While clearly an alternative rock band, their sound includes electronic underpinnings, giving them a distinct vibe of their own. The four piece band, which formed early 2011, includes Layne Twist (lead vocals, guitar, keys), Travis Coursey (guitar), Kendra Lane (bass, vocals), and Ryan Aston (drums), who joined the band in October of 2014. From the very beginning, Chasing Pictures has been creating a buzz in the region. Listen to them play on stage and you’ll see why. Live, their raw energy emits from the stage, captivating the audience from the very beginning with their tight, electrifying sound. Just four months after playing their first show in November of 2011 at George’s Majestic Lounge, Chasing Pictures was nominated in two categories - Indie/ Alternative and Best New Artist - for the 2012 NAMA (Northwest Arkansas Music Awards). Yet, NAMA is not the only organization that has taken notice of Chasing Pictures’ solid vocals and music in such a short time. The band also won the 2014 Battle of the Bands, presented by The Stolen Glass in Fayetteville, AR. Even more impressive, Chasing Pictures has already opened for International/ National acts such as AWOLNATION, Blue October, Finger Eleven, 10 Years, The Lemonheads, Fair to Midland, IAmDynamite, Hurt, Architects, and Sleeper Agent. Their EP, Self, includes hits such as their debut single, “City Lights,” and “Who We Are.” Another powerful track is their latest single, “Not the Same,” which stands out with a moving melody, invigorating electronic loops, energizing guitar riffs, and distinctive beats. The lyrics indicate the struggle of connection with self and others in the midst of an almost obsessive commitment to busy schedules: “this sick feeling in my gut/ but I’m prepared to be honest/ to watch you waste away/ all your value/…city feels foreign at times/ where nothing ever lasts/ …just pack your bags and hit the road/ time is of the essence/ you’ll never find out who you are/ if nothing ever changes/ cause now, this time/ the feeling’s not the same/ I’ll be here ready for anything….” And this is exactly the mission of Chasing Pictures: to make connections worldwide and bring creativity to a world inundated by mundane, time-sucking duties.
