About Dead Souls
There is, at least, four bands called Dead Souls.
1) Dead Souls are a band from Belgium who are well-known there as the best Joy Division cover band. They closed that chapter on March 7th and started writing their own work. Their debut-album, Cognac and Coffee is avaible now in stores.
From their myspace:
All four of us have been playing music for some time. Bernie was part of DR.NO (experimental bass & drums duo) and plays with ALMANZA (dirty power trio from Tienen). Yves and Flip were part of 90-ies space pop band AMBER 2. They write and perform as the ZEN FOR BIRDS duo. Yves was also part of MANGENERATED, LONGING FOR STORK and TIN FOIL STAR (live) and plays with WONDY AND CASY and FIELDINGS and occasionally performs solo under different names. Koen plays with GRIM (post rock versions of classical music from the likes of Erik Satie and Arvo Pärt).
In 2003 we did some shows as the DEAD SOULS playing only joy division songs. We were picked up by Stijn Meuris who was kind enough to take us on tour with his band MONZA which got us some unexpected but welcome nationwide exposure. In march 2006 after about 40 gigs we played our last show as a "cover band" at a sold-out STUK in Leuven.
So now we've started writing our own music. No more joy division songs. We did a few try-out shows in the summer of 2007. Our friend Geert Mets offered to put out a record on his ZEAL label in march 2008.
We have recently welcomed a new member in the band to enhance our live sound. His name is Tom Poppe and he excells at kraut riffing. Welcome Tom ! Tom also plays with the exquisite band "An Apple" from Tienen. Do check them out ! In the meantime stay tuned for some excellent droney space pop from the Dead Souls !
2) Dead Souls is a Finnish Death/Thrash Metal band.
3) Dead Souls, also known as D.S, was an Industrial/Goth band formed in Mendoza, Argentina in 1996. Their official web site is www.dead-souls.com.ar
4) Dead Souls is a Nottingham, UK based rock band, influenced by the 1990's Seattle/grunge movement.
The band formed in 2003 when Jim Lee replied to an advert in a Nottingham record store seeking a bassist and drummer for a new 'grunge' sounding project. The advert was placed by Michael J. Preston who had recently left his hometown of Liverpool.
Dead Souls is currently a group of three people, including Michael J. Preston (guitars/vocals), Jim Lee (drums) and Martin Toner (bass).
