About Do Not Resuscitate

Do Not Resuscitate Chris Bacon: Vocals Collin Patierno: Lead Guitar Mike Mooney: Percussion Eddie Maldonado: Bass Do Not Resuscitate is a progressive melodic thrash metal band hailing from Tallahassee, Florida. DNR has shared the stage and toured with bands such as Catalepsy, Abolish, Mushroom Head, Hed Pe and many more. The band was formed in late 2009 when Chris Bacon and Collin Patierno met at a Goatwhore and Skeletonwitch show in Tallahassee and started talking about forming a band. “I gave him an opportunity to see if he was full of shit or one of the few people who were being truthful” - Collin Patierno From there they started jamming on some riffs that Bacon already had in mind, and those riffs ended up being the start of several of the band’s first songs “Awaken,” “Give Me Liberty or I will Give You Death” and “Metal Revival.” DNR’s first gig ever was at Floyd’s Music Store in Tallahassee at Bloodfest 3. “From there we had a lot of shows and a lot of replacements.” - Collin Patierno It was not until May of 2010 that DNR kidnapped Mike Mooney from Slidell, Louisiana, and the band finally had a solid core to regularly book shows and hit the studio. Later the addition of Eddie Maldonado into the band gave DNR a cohesive blend of devoted musicians. “Finally, we have musicians who fit, are available, and are dedicated. We had a lot of problems with drummers, Mike is our 14th drummer” – Chris Bacon DNR has quickly taken off in underground metal scenes across Florida and the southeast. Although their touring has been limited to the southeastern circuits of the United States, their music has received radio play in New York, New Jersey, Nebraska, Texas, and California. “As much as people hopefully think our recordings are great, we are a live band. We are all about the live show, all I ask for our fans is to give us one shot live and they will not be let down.” - Collin Patierno Their original EP was produced by Blake Johnson (lead singer of the band Senate, signed by Fuel Records). Currently, they are working with producer Stan Martell of Martell Studios in Kingsland, GA. Martell is well known in the music industry and his client roster includes such bands as Society Red, Evergreen Terrace, Fuel, Burn Season, and Marion Crane. Three samples of their music produced by Martell can be found on Reverb Nation. The songs will continue to be available for free download until the full album is released. In September of 2011 DNR signed with Joann Gullo of Extreme Management Group out of Saint James, NY. Their client roster includes Cyanide Serenity, Suffocation, Of Fate and Chance, and Malevolent Creation. The band’s first full length album entitled We The Sheeple is three years in the making, and is, barring the unforeseen, set for release winter of 2011. Their music is inspired by conspiracy theories and touches on the governments that are really running things that nobody knows about. They are also driven by historical revolutions. The band captures the feelings and ignition of people in countries where everything has gone awry to the point where all that is left is chaos, and revolution or a slow death are the only options left. The first song the band ever wrote and recorded was “Metal Revival,” however this song will not be featured on the new album. Instead the album will be a progression of songs as they were recorded post “Metal Revival.” “A lot of bands start where they are best friends growing up or they knew each other from back in the day, but we had to find our own way. We had to figure out our own way to progress personally and musically at the same time.” - Collin Patierno The title track “We The Sheeple” is a combination of the band’s most heavy and most mellow. It is essentially a combination of everything they have written thus far. It has a thrash breakdown, classic hardcore death metal influences, clean melodic lyrical melodies, and it ends with a very tonal harmonized melody. If there was ever a song that could show the range of DNR this is it! “‘We The Sheeple’ can be broken down into three parts. The first section is pure beat down, the second one is a lyrical solo, and the third is a more upbeat nostalgic throwback to 80’s thrash.” - Collin Patierno Chris Bacon is a former Corporal of the U.S. Marine Corp and actually served in the battle of Fallujah during 2004 through 2005. “We have one song called “Phantom Fury”, it’s a bit more epic a bit more melodic than a lot of our stuff. It’s about The Battle of Fallujah in Iraq in 2004. I wrote it from a historians view 2000 years from now. It’s really epic and eerie the way that our historians talk about the Greeks and Romans. It gives it a very romantic view of the glory and the honor of battle and what goes through people’s minds on the battlefield.” – Chris Bacon Lead guitarist Collin Patierno is one of the few metal guitarists in the southeast who holds a Masters Degree in Classical Guitar. He finished his undergraduate at the Manhattan School of Music, and completed his graduate program at FSU under the great Bruce Holzman. The combination of his classical training and the various influences and experiences of the other band members gives DNR a structured and unique metal musicality. A perfect example of this is “Phantom Fury” which has a perfect classical structure blended with the brutal vocals of Chris and the rest of the band’s diverse instrumental rage. “Honestly, you will never see another band like us. We bring fucking metal and we fuse it with old school thrash. We bring more of every style into each thing. Collin is a classical guitarist and I played death metal before this, so we are bringing something new to the thrash game. We could be the next era of music.” – Mike Mooney
