About Selah Dubb

With their highly original sound, Selah Dubb brings forth relevant and uplifting positive vibrations. Representing modern day surf-reggae-rock with mass appeal, The Dubb has matured into a mobile, energetic, and entertaining trio. Bring your dancing boots, for this is no sleepy time reggae! This summer, expect more high energy vibes as The Dubb releases their new album Closeout City and tours the coast. In honor of the bands 20 yrs in motion, The Dubb is releasing a box set and a live show called the Dubbumentery. The mission of the band is to break the bounderies of technology and further adapt their sound into its purest vibrational essensce. Overall the music is an uplifting style of reggae that spreads unity and positivity. With a rich history, Selah Dubb has rocked audiences throughout the country and overcome innumerable challenges along the way. By consistently hashing out new songs and continuously improving their DIY formula, to keep the music alive and in full motion. Mark Evangelist (lead vocals, guitarist, songwriter, and producer) is the leading light of the band. His passion for reggae music and his original, high energy songwriting has kept Selah thriving since its inception. By touring non-stop throughout the years and recording 14 albums, the group has developed a great reputation in the southeast and beyond. Heather “Baby Beats” Purdin (support vocals and keys) was a surprising addition to the group. Coming to North Carolina from Athens, GA, she attended a Selah show in Boone and became instantly hooked. When a position in the band became available shortly thereafter, she jumped on the opportunity. Her job in the band is not only as a keyboard melody maker but also live engineer, controlling the digital aspects of the music like that of a DJ. Last summer, crystal coast islander, Reuban Rosado joined the band to play drums. His solid foundation and attention to detail bring a dance quality that keeps the rhythm shaking and body moving. Selah has been fortunate to share the stage opening for many of their favorite artists: The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Fishbone, Collie Buddz, Passifire, Tribal seeds, Fear Nuttin, Mishka, Widespread Panic, Jimmy Cliff, P-Funk, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Eek-a-Mouse, Culture, Yellow Man, Lucianno, and many more. On occasion, they will surprise you and weave a few covers into their sets to honor the artists before them who have helped the reggae movement thrive as it does today. Selah Dubb jump-up, rocksteady, ragamuffin, surf-roots from Wrightsville bch. NC
