About House Guest

House Guest
House Guest
In the beginning, there were two friends. One went over to another friends house. He demanded that this friend make him dinner immediately. When the friend denied, the guest replied, “But you have to! I’m the guest!” And thus, House Guest was born! When Kivett Cook and Hudson Waldrop first met, they were both mere amateurs when it came to their instruments. Hudson started playing guitar when he was thirteen and Kivett began learning the bass. Both came from vastly different music backgrounds. While both musicians were inspired by the powerful sounds of alternative rock, Hudson was drawn to the singer-songwriter style and Kivett found his roots in classic rock’n roll. Their first practice consisted of a couple of yard sale electric guitars, a 15 watt amp, and a determination to start writing songs. Several years and multiple band members later, along came Jak Wallis. Jak and Hudson met when playing together in a church band on a Sunday morning in Winston-Salem. Hudson provided simple demos for the curious drummer. He eagerly accepted the role into House Guest and was thrilled to get started. Over months of playing together, both on and off the stage, the bandmates chemistry flourished. This eccentric collaboration is known as House Guest. House Guest specializes in the distinct sound of indie rock, while making waves in the Greensboro music scene. The band’s versatility spans many genres such as folk, punk, hardcore, singer-songwriter, and acoustic. Despite the fact that House Guest has lost multiple members along the way, the dynamic trio has not lost their perseverance or vision for their music. Currently, House Guest has recorded at Hudson Studios. The band has released their new EP called “Chasin'Trains”, representing and celebrating all the hard work they have put in as a collective. During October, House Guest will be performing at Underdog Records in Winston-Salem, NC. House Guest aims to bring alive a form of Indie Rock that has roots of the 90’s and early 2000’s. When under the bright lights, House Guest delivers only what true artists can offer, vulnerability in their greatest creation. What these musicians do can only be experienced through singing along.
