Josquin des Prez

Josquin (c1450-55 - 1521) was (and is) one of the most revered classical composers and singers of the Renaissance era. He held several different positions, perhaps most prominently as chorister in the papel chapel of Rome. His name has been challenging to verify, and a variety of names abound, including Josse, Gosse, Joskin, Jossequin, Josquinus, Jodocus, Judocus, and Juschino for first names, and Desprez, des Près, des Prés, de Prés, a Prato, de Prato, and Pratensis for surnames.
