About Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya

In the pantheon of great band names, they don't come much more awesome than Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya", once said a journalist in "Dazed & Confused". Yes indeed. But they're much more than a cool name. It didn't take long until Bitchee, Ya Ya Ya 1 and Ya Ya Ya 2 - the 3 members of the band - caught everybody's attention in the "blogosphere". They ended up being listed on the internet all around the world thanks to their first remixes for Bonde Do Role (Domino), Au Revoir Simone (Moshi Moshi) and Poney Poney (now Jamaica). Being noticed by a whole community of aware listeners, artists and A&R's, their work has been rewarded since the month of May 2007 by a never ending demand of their remixes. Despite this growing success, they have been able to maintain the mystery around them and their identity. They apparently met in the U.K. where Bitchee is from. They are said to be in Paris recording in one of their friends' studio, Ya Ya Ya 1 being supposedly half French and half British. We know they work on their own music as well, some of it being actually findable on their page (myspace.com/bbyayaya), and that they are three on stage whenever they play their always explosive set that they have been lucky enough to perform all around, supporting great artists like Sebastien Tellier, Justice, The Bloody Beetroots, Kavinsky, The Whip, Primary One, Joe (Hot Chip), El P, Calvin Harris, Crystal Castle, Bonde Do Role etc... However, their remixes and new songs are rare as the band still wishes to release things bit by bit. So far, the only song you were able to find is the underground hit "Fuck Friend" released by Kitsuné with remixes by Mixhell (aka Iggor Cavalera from Sepultura and his wife...), CSS and Yuksek & Brodinski. CSS's version of the track can also be found on the great "Kitsuné Maison" compilation # 5. Being compared to "dance machines", their songs are easily recognisable thanks to their huge sounds between lo-fi and post-punk, metronomic distorted drums, some vintage keyboards, very heavy bass lines, and Bitchee's crystal-like voice singing melodies inspired by what they call "candy-pop music". But they would sound more like a mix of the Gossip, P-Funk and the Bad Brains. Despite the band's young age, the band is already being supported by some of the greatest artists and DJ's : Soulwax / 2Many Dj's, Digitalism, Erol Alkan, Brodinski, CSS, Bonde Do Role, the Teenagers, Yuksek, Mixhell, Poney Poney/Jamaica, The Whip etc… Last year, they dropped a track called "Dance Dance Dance", their own tribute to Rick James, and a video was made by Tunde Adebimpe, also famous for being TV On The Radio's frontman. Now is the time for a new release by Bitchee and her crew, including a video you should watch until the end because there is a special guest from out of space visiting around the last second... No more needs to be said.
