About Andres Dyer

In an already culturally enriched region such as South America it is always a surprise to find thriving and well-diffused electronic music scenes, as they already have strong local and regional rhythms & music of their own, however, Peru in particular certainly stands out posing a very healthy and vibrant scene. It would not be an exaggeration to state that the great contribution to such revelation has been acquired by '4BEATS’. Now celebrating 10 years it is one of the most respected promoter in South America, one that has consistently presented events which very clearly go beyond the pressures of commercialization to concentrate on artistic, cultural and community values, full of integrity and respect. At the epicenter of such amazing organization is co-owner and resident Dj, Andres Dyer. Andres Dyer started Djing in 2000 when moving to Miami, however a return home not long after that kicked off his journey on dedicating to electronic music in Lima. Andres opened a record shop in 2003 and started his own parties in the city. Two years later, in 2005, his Dj residency at 4BEATS starts but later in 2009, him and his wife Camila took over the 4Beats project entirely. For the past 6 years the couple have been consistently working with the same passion from when they first opened their record store. This journey not only has granted Andres to be extremely competent in the art of mixing but allowed his expansion into many other areas such as having a very large and well researched record collection & music knowledge but one that also benefits him on skills such as being a promoter and organiser. "I cannot change the scene in which I am part of because that is something that has its own life... it belongs to the people that created and sustain it.... which includes Djs, promoters, producers, consumers, amongst others. I do believe that there are people with the ability to influence others such as Djs and promoters do, people that can really influence their scene and how it is continuously sustained and formed... I could give a thousand ideas.... but I feel that the main aspect to create a real scene (a community) relays on sharing our ideas in the most sincere manner, with lots of good intentions and with a lot of responsibility. To me being aware of that is essential in order to create a positive and incredibly unifying effect... this is where I reinforce that it is then that magic happens... If done with different intentions, such as those focused on financial success, social status, hype, etc one would never succeed in creating a true community, it may create something else but not that..." Andres Dyer on Change Evidently, when looking at the history of these events, 'music for all tastes' within the dance music spectrum is shown. Many where the artists he hosted which amongst a long list, legendary figures such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath and Josh Wink are found. Dyer's consistency on adapting to such musical diversity as a Dj has granted him recognition on the global circuit taking him as far as the US, Europe and the rest of Latin America. During one of his last european tours he played at very well respected clubs and parties including Reckon in Barcelona, Rex in Paris, Club Der Visionaere in Berlin and Toi.Toi. Musik in London. As with every good resident his ability to adapt without compromising in quality poses a versatility rarely exercised in the region, one that is compared to the standards found in nations where electronic music is most developed such as Germany, England and other European cities. With all that said it becomes obvious that Andrés prefers not to define himself by attaching to one specific style, just as what the art of Djing should always be about! His sets do mainly range between House and Techno cruising through variations in beautifully constructed journeys.
