About The Vinyl
Four childhood friends from Akron, Ohio grew up together, went to school together, and ultimately, now make music together. After years of various youth-driven music ventures, vocalist Samuel Shaffer, guitarist Jon Cheyney, bassist Ryan Girard, and drummer Quebec Gibbins have joined forces to embark on a musical maturation project. Inspired by their inanimate mentor, Prince Abubu, the group has traded the heavy bass lines and semi-dark pretenses of their previous enterprises for upbeat guitar riffs and idyllic, yet visionary, lyrics. They are a machine; they are The Vinyl. Born in 2012.
