Last Night Puzzle

Last Night Puzzle sees the light under mysterious and dark circumstances that has yet to be enlighten by the band's members. Whatever exactly lead to the band foundation, it is certain that it has emerged from a mix between excessive alcohol drinking and friends having a guitar at arm's length. At this point, the presence of a goat in the original line-up will be kept quiet. Sharing the same musical tastes and the same dream of a "rock'n'roll" life, Frank Blais, Kev Boutin and Paulo start Last Night Puzzle. The band's name comes from Paulo, who had its share of morning following a well-celebrated night where he is left with nothing but a bunch of souvenirs from which he has to reconstitute his last night's puzzle. Not wanting to be labelled as a band playing cover songs and then limiting itself, Last Night Puzzle starts right away by writing their own songs. Their composition pattern is simple but efficient : Kev Boutin send texts to Frank Blais who makes a song out of them. At the listening of the very first song being written this way, Last Night Puzzle feels they have something interesting : authentic lyrics on a revisited punk rock sound. Despite having what appears to be a certain potential and already having a dozen of composition written, Last Night Puzzle has trouble taking the next step due to inconsistencies behind the drums. Indeed, the band has trouble finding a drummer who fits in, both musically and personally. February 2011 : LNP finally fins his own missing piece to this musical puzzle. Rémi Daigle is recruited to fill in as the drummer. The skill, experience and musicality he brings to the table has an immediate effect on the band overall quality. The beat he proposes on the songs make them that much better and Last Night Puzzle is able to feel a serious progression from one jam to another. The Last Night Puzzle's official line-up is so excited with what they're getting that they decide to record some of his song in a studio. The recording takes place in April 2011 at Empire's Audio. Meanwhile, the band offers his first shows. The members then demonstrate a good capacity to play their songs live and an obvious pleasure to make a show out of it. On a stage, Last Night Puzzle also exposes his partying side. They, only to name a couple things, aren't shy to drink from a Jack Daniel's 40 oz bottle or to down their beers when Frank Blais challenges them to. In June 2011, Last Night Puzzle releases his demo called «We've exposed ourselves» on the Web. The three songs it contains are One summer stand, Textomania and Without a penny. FRANCAIS Night Puzzle voit le jour en 2010 dans des circonstances qui se veulent encore nébuleuses pour les membres du groupe... À ce jour, on sait que c'est lors d'une soirée entre amis où il y avait une guitare à portée de main qui a mené à la formation du band. Partageant les mêmes gouts musicaux et désireux de tous un vivre un jour le "rock'n'roll dream", Frank Blais, Kev Boutin et Paulo créent Last Night Puzzle. Désireux de ne pas être étiqueté comme un groupe de "covers" et ainsi se limiter considérablement, Last Night Puzzle se lance d'emblée dans la composition. Le processus de création de Last Night Puzzle est simple, mais efficace : Kev Boutin refile des textes à Frank Blais qui les met en musique. Dès l'écoute de la première chanson ainsi composée, le groupe sent qu'il tient quelque chose d'intéressant : des paroles bien senties sur un son punk rock revisité. Malgré un certain potentiel et une dizaine de chansons déjà en banque, Last Night Puzzle tarde à prendre son envol dû à l'instabilité derrière les tambours. En effet, le groupe peine à trouver un batteur qui leur convient tant au plan musical que personnel. C'est en février 2011 que Last Night Puzzle trouve finalement la pièce manquante à son puzzle musical. Rémi Daigle se joint au groupe à titre de batteur. Le bagage de talent, d'expérience et de musicalité qu'apporte Rémi au groupe fait tout de suite une différence. Les rythmes qu'ils proposent pour chacune des mélodies les améliorent grandement et permettent au groupe de progresser vivement d'une pratique à l'autre. Les résultats sont tels que Last Night Puzzle élabore dès lors le plan d'enregistrer en studio. En avril 2011, Last Night Puzzle entreprend l'enregistrement de son démo chez Empire Audio. En même temps, le band produit ses premiers spectacles. Le groupe démontre alors sur scène une bonne maitrise de leur composition et un plaisir contagieux à se donner en spectacle. En juin 2011, Last Night Puzzle dévoile dans Internet leur démo intitulé « We've exposed ourselves » contenant dans l'ordre les chansons One Summer Stand, Textomania et Without a penny. En Mars 2012, Keven Boutin dût quitter le groupe pour des régions géographiques et personnelles. Il quitte néanmoins en bons termes, continuant dans ses temps libres l'écriture de parole pour de nouvelles chansons. Le groupe remplaça alors Keven par Nicolas Girardin.
