About Cascada de Flores
Latin American Song Book Reinvented:
Arwen Lawrence and Jorge Liceaga, a mariachi torch singer and Mexican flamenco guitarist founded Cascada de Flores in 1999. Along with expert musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area, they began journeying into hidden corners of Mexico. They have since spent 17 years swimming in a magical place somewhere between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean sea where music from México, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Colombia meet.
Cascada de Flores has recorded 5 albums, created theatrical concerts such as Radio Flor and The Tree & the Donkey, collaborated in projects with local masters of Latin cultures, and has scored music for film, shadow-theater and modern dance.
Cascada de Flores entertains people of all ages and cultures in concert halls and community centers, town festivals and rural libraries, Mexico and Cuba and throughout the United states. The elegance and pure emotion with which they present musical tradition brings both cultural awareness and pride, resonating deeper than where differences lie.
