About Luís Peixoto

Instrumentist, composer and music producer.

After the success of the album "Geodesia" (2021), Luís Peixoto is back in the studio and working on his original compositions, presenting the first release of this year under his own name.

With an intimate and introspective sound, without losing the usual acoustic folk character and exclusively instrumental, the new single "Please Take Care" is a reflection of a search for musical and personal identity, inspired by the difficulty sometimes experienced in expressing deep emotions verbally, which often results in a simple, sometimes even formal phrase, but which nevertheless carries an important meaning.

This new song features Luís Peixoto on bouzouki and mandolin, and the galician Xosé Liz on guitar and low whistle, and was recorded in Viladecans (Catalonia) and Figueira da Foz (Portugal), co-produced by Xosé Liz and mastered at Studio Trad (Belgium). The single will be available on all digital platforms on March 22nd.

Luis Peixoto was born in Coimbra, Portugal. He studied Recorder and Classical Guitar at the Lagos Music Academy, Mandolin at the Coimbra Conservatory and learned Cavaquinho, Bandolim and Coimbra Guitar at the Traditional Instruments School of the "Secção de Fado" of the Coimbra Academic Association, under the guidance of Professors Jorge Gomes, Ricardo Dias and Amadeu Magalhães.

He has been a member of several musical projects, including Dazkarieh, Sebastião Antunes, Julio Pereira, Ana Bacalhau and Dulce Pontes.

He had a creative roll as interpreter of the show "Fica no Singelo", with artistic and choreographic direction by Clara Andermatt, a production by Companhia ACCCA and co-production by Teatro Viriato, Culturgest, Teatro Nacional S. João and Centro Cultural Vila Flor.

He has won several international awards, including "Best Original Composition" - "Jumping bits" in 2011, "Best Folk Album of the Year" with "Assembly Point" in 2011 and with "Trim" in 2014 by the XI and XIV Opinión Awards.

He also won the 1st Prize at the Folkherbst Festival Malzhaus with "Anxo Lorenzo Trio" and the 1st Prize for artistic residency in 2010 at the international meeting in Budapest "Euromed Festival", where he formed a project with 4 other musicians from European and Mediterranean countries.

In 2017 he released his first solo album "Assimétrico". His second solo album was released in 2021 - "Geodesia", which reached the top 10 of the World Music Charts Europe and the Transglobal Worldmusic Chart for 3 consecutive months. Reviews to highlight: 4 stars "Timeout Portugal", "World Music Central" and 3 stars in the magazine "Songlines".
