About Carolyn Striho

High-energy, melodic and passionate, Carolyn Striho’s music has been described as written “from the silver edge of midnight” (All-Music Guide, USA). Highly regarded as one of Detroit's best singer/songwriters, Carolyn’s also an award-winning musician, performer, and poet. From her early days in punk/art rock to her current evocative music, Carolyn’s alluring vocal delivery with a rock and roll folk big beat sound is hypnotizing. She was on the Grammy Awards First Ballot 2024 for Best American Roots Song/Performance, 2022 Grammy Awards First Ballot for Best Spoken Word Album and 2018 Grammy Awards First Ballot for Best Rock Album. Carolyn has received 11 Detroit Music Awards. With a sound reminiscent of a rock and roll wild at heart gypsy folk with cabaret soul, Carolyn’s toured and worked with poet and rock icon/singer Patti Smith in Michigan, Toronto and in London, England. She’s performed with Don Was, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Slits, Ramones, Iggy Pop in London, U.K. with Yoko Ono, Steve Earle, Tori Amos, Sinead O'Connor, Yoko Ono and more. Carolyn’s performed three tours of Italy, in the U.K. and two months in Japan as well. Carolyn and her guitarist/husband Scott Dailey are debuting new songs this year! She is featured in the book, “Hit Girls: Women in Punk” featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Revolutionary Women’s Exhibit March 2024. There is also a new release with Carolyn’s former band Detroit Energy Asylum on Orchid Records Detroit. Stay tuned for more of Carolyn’s new music! http://www.carolynstriho.com
