Es war ja mehr ein Live-Radiointerview als Konzert. Und gerade deswegen sehr außergewöhnlich, in einer tollen und stilvollen Atmosphäre auf der Radio1-Dachterrasse.

About The Dead Lovers
If The Dead Lovers were a film they would be a road movie, full of wide-open skies and evocative desert landscapes. Their sound is retro, sexy and provocative. It borrows from blues, rockabilly, folk; sixties beat with nuances of Americana, but always remains convincing, unique and utterly irresistible. They manage to weave a canvas of melodic vocal harmonies over soundscapes ranging from dirty blues guitar stomps to haunting reverb-drenched ballads.
The band is a duo, comprised of Wayne Jackson and Lula, and their onstage chemistry and sardonic humour is infectious and is slowly becoming legendary. Throughout Germany they have been leaving a wake of admiration and have performed at festivals such as the Orange Blossom Special, Radio Eins’ Parkfest, The Pure & Crafted, Bochum Total and the Breminale and have supported the likes of Charles Bradley, Imelda May, The Baseballs and Roger Hodgson.
Wayne stems from Manchester and his first band The Dostoyevskys achieved minor cult status in the mid 90s with their remarkable live shows, before splitting shortly after supporting Oasis at the height of their Brit Pop fame. Wayne relocated to Berlin and released two solo albums and co-wrote and sang “The Other Side” with Paul Van Dyk, which achieved global recognition. He picked up a gold disk for co- producing the first two solo albums from one of Germany's true bona fide rock stars; Bela B. He also played in Bela's band Los Helmstedt.
Lula hails from a small village in Bavaria and her track record is equally impressive and varied; working as a singer, a songwriter, and a published photographer. She had the honour of singing a duet with Lee Hazlewood on his final ever recording shortly before his untimely death. She has also been a long time collaborator with Bela B. as a co-writer ad featured singer.
Due to their craving for an authentic retro sound, they travelled twice to San Diego to record two albums at the exceptionally unique Lost Ark Studio. The studio boasts an unrivalled collection of incredibly beautiful and rare guitars, amps and keyboards from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. You can smell the perfume of vintage gear in their music.
