It was a beautiful and sweet show with Moira, Seamus and Jann Falquet. Such musical virtuosity from all three of them while also being very down to earth, congenial and fun. Lovely mix of musical selections featuring all three and they were just wonderful and complimentary playing together. Great venue as well - small commuity based theater, intimate and great acoustics - worth checking out again for more music.

I’ve been privileged to see Moira Smiley a number of times over the years, from house concerts to song circles, a TEDx conference, and at a premiere of a commissioned choral work that she composed and performed with members of the LA Master Choral, at Disney Hall. Her artistry is profoundly moving, but is just so much more special in small venue, like it was at Nichols Canyon Music, last evening. It’s been exciting to follow her rise as a composer, an arranger, a singer/ instrumentalist, and as a performer. It’s been equally exciting to see how she manage to provide for the sophisticated listener as well as the folk music enthusiast. This music satisfies on so many levels. The intimacy of this venue, coupled with the brilliant new music (The Rhizome Project), and the addition of a wonderful young string quartet, made for a perfect evening, nestled in the canyon. Master musicians, brilliant music, a beautiful venue with great acoustics, a respectful and devoted audience, and plenty of free parking! What more can you ask for? 5 stars.
