About Small World Project
Appearing as a musical UFO on the music scene in 2008, the unique Small World Project dazzles with its array of small string instruments (ukulele, charango, banjolele, toy piano, melodica, glockenspiel), mini-percussions, and double bass. The first two albums by this Montreal collective, known for their eclectic and boundary-pushing sound, offer a joyful, humorous, and energetic fusion of various musical styles and traditions, earning praise from critics. Their next project, "Les Mille et une nuits - Ciné-concert," is a one-of-a-kind cinematic and musical experience where the group performs original music live for the silent animated film "Les Aventures du Prince Ahmed." Supported by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and subsequently by the Conseil des Arts de Montréal on tour, this show has been presented throughout Canada and in New York.
Their fourth and most recent album, "Macroscope," was released on November 6, 2023, at La Sala Rossa in Montreal.
SWP has received the Opus award for Concert of the Year in Jazz and World Music and the Étoiles Galaxie award from Radio-Canada. The collective, composed of members Sébastien Dufour (formerly of MG3), Patrick Graham (Constantinople), and Frédéric Samson (formerly of Vent Du Nord), has graced the stages of numerous international festivals, including the New York Ukulele Festival, the Tahiti Guitar Festival, the Cultural Festival of Zacatecas in Mexico, the Bayeux Guitar Festival in France, as well as the Guelph Jazz Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
