Black Veil Brides (BVB) is an american Rock'n'Roll band and was founded in 2006 by Andy (Andrew Dennis) Biersack in Cincinnati, Ohio. Name The name „Black Veil Brides“ comes from Roman Catholic terms. When a woman marries into the church and gives up all the pleasures of life to devote her life to God, she is deemed a Black Veiled Bride. The members aren't religious but Andy grew up in a catholic community so he knows about this ceremony and compared it with a rock band. “You have to give up many things to pursuit of what you’re passionate about or believe in.” Historial background As a kid Andy was an outcast and needed something to hold on to. As a teenager he has been chased down by his classmates and called „emo“ or „fag“. His dad Chris was guitarist in a Punk-Rock band so Andy grew up in the rock-music-community. His „weapon“ was writing songs. He found a way to express his anger or aggression in lyrics. He wanted to give other kids the strenght to accept what they are and not care what others think of them. Andy was fully aware of what he wanted and he only had one vision, so he started a band called ”Biersack” when he was about 14 years old. Later „Black Veil Brides“ was founded. Breakthrough On 6/17/09 Black Veil Brides’ first music video „Knives and Pens“ was released on YouTube. When they recorded the video Andy didn’t even have a real band, so he looked out for some musicians to be in the clip with him. In the end Andy recorded the video with his friend Chris „Hollywood“ Bluser as guitarist, and Sandra Alvaranga, who joined BVB as their drummer. Soon after the video release Ashley Purdy (Bass) and Pan (Guitar) joined Black Veil Brides. Chris left the band caused by „personal problems with Andy“. But Jinxx took his place and when Pan left the band Jake Pitts took his place. After two tours, in September 2010, Sandra left the band (and joined Modern Day Escape) and Christian „CC“ Coma joined in. Music The band combines catchy melodies with metal guitar riffs and drumbeats. They send a message of believing in yourself and letting no one tell you any thing different. They stand up for the outcasts and embrace anything strange, odd or unique. Andy selbst ist zwar nicht religiös, aber er wuchs in einer katholischen Gemeinschaft auf und kennt daher diese Zeremonie und verglich sie mit Rockbands. „Du musst viele Dinge aufgeben um deine Leidenschaft oder das woran du glaubst, verfolgen zu können“ Hintergrund Andy war als Kind ein Außenseiter und brauchte etwas woran er sich festhalten konnte. Sein Vater Chris Biersack war Gitarrist in einer Punk-Rock Band und deswegen war Andy auch früh ein Teil der damaligen Rock’n’Roll Welt. Seine „Waffe“ war es, Songs zu schreiben. Er fand einen Weg seinen Ärger und seine Aggressionen in Lyrics umzuwandeln und will damit anderen Menschen, denen es so geht wie ihm Kraft geben und ihnen helfen, so akzeptiert zu werden wie sie sind. Er war sich früh darüber bewusst, was er wollte und so gründete er mit 14 eine Band namens „Biersack“. Die später in „Black Veil Brides“ umbenannt wurde. Durchbruch Am 17.6.2009 wurde Black Veil Brides’ erstes Musikvideo „Knives and Pens“ auf youtube.com veröffentlicht und wurde bis heute fast 20 Millionen mal angeklickt. Knives and Pens wurde mit Gitarrist Chris Hollywood und Drummerin Sandra Alvarenga gedreht. Kurz nach Veröffentlichung des Videos kamen Ashley Purdy (Bassist) und Pan (Gitarrist) in die Band. Chris Hollywood verließ daraufhin bald die Band wegen „persönlichen Problemen mit Andy“ und Jinxx trat bei. Noch vor den Aufnahmen für das Debutalbum wurde Pan durch Jake Pitts als Leadgitarrist ersetzt. 2010, nach 2 Touren, verließ Sandra die Band, weil sie eine andere Art von Musik ausprobieren und sich weiterentwickeln wollte (sie spielt jetzt bei Modern Day Escape), und Christian „CC“ Coma wurde neuer Drummer. Musik Die Band kombiniert packende Melodien mit Metal Gitarren Riffs und Schlagzeugbeats. Sie stehen für die Message an sich selbst zu glauben und sich von niemandem das Gegenteil erzählen zu lassen. Sie stehen für die Außenseiter ein und begrüßen alles was anders, einzigartig ist. Bei anderen Rockbands geht es darum sich nicht um andere zu kümmern und das Leben mit Spaß zu leben. Black Veil Brides sind zwar auch dieser Meinung, aber ohne dabei anderen (ob gewollt oder ungewollt) Schaden zuzufügen.
