About The Foreign Films

For Bill Majoros (aka the Foreign Films) songwriting presents many different spheres — modern yet classic, cinematic yet deeply personal. The Foreign Films represents a soundtrack of his life experiences, weaving sonic elements of the past, present and future into a bittersweet genre-bounding pop. Star gazing and heartbreaking all at once. Majoros in indeed a political songwriter—but his is the “politics of emotion.” His new album, Fire From Spark (produced by Michael Keire), extends this mantra with four new songs that capture the high energy from his live performances. A storyteller in the traditional sense, his songs are melodic, intelligently crafted, beautifully written cinematic pop gems that sparkle and shimmer like light on water. A songwriter’s songwriter, Majoros takes eclectic elements from different music genres and fuses them to his own compositions, which manifest in Distant Star, his 2007 debut album as The Foreign Films, and his new EP, Fire From Spark. Having toured North America with various artists including his former band Flux A.D. whose members included Julie Fader (Feist, Great Lake Swimmers) and Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck), Majoros has also worked in the studio with artists such as producer/engineer James Heidebrecht (Death From Above, Sloan). With subtle measures of ‘60s psych pop, UK northern soul and ‘80s new wave, the music of Bill Majoros and the Foreign Films is retrospectively nostaligic but undeniably forward thinking. It has not only won the hearts of fans worldwide, but also the attention of Canadian rock luminaries Daniel Lanois and Robbie Robertson. With the release of Fire From Spark, Majoros promises so much more. http://absolutepowerpop.blogspot.com/2010/11/ep-of-day-11410-foreign-films-ep.html "Cinematic, psychedelic pop..epic" 6 new songs from upcoming double LP "The Record Collector" available now!
