About Pennhurst

Pennhurst is a Maryland band Formed through the magic of online advertising. Jon Gunter (guitar)placed an add on Craigslist. After many responses, Seth Johnson (lead vocals) was the only serious and talented response. With Seth came a few drummers who could not quite fit with the grueling work ethics of the founding members. Ultimately, Troy Hays (drummer) found his way to Pennhurst and the makings of a solid metal band were coming together. On a trip to a local music shop the father of Seth Johnson overheard a guitar player shredding leads while testing guitars. Steve Sweeney was then hooked up with the band, and with Steve came his high school friend and bassist Eddie Oldham. After a few shows Pennhurst decided that they needed to go in a new musical direction. The limitations of being labeled a death metal band was not where Pennhurst wanted to be. The hunt for a new front man began. A friend of a friend hooked the guys up with seasoned front man and local well-known musician Duke Aipa, and the re-tooling of Pennhurst began. Within a month of the final line-up being in place, Pennhurst has written hard-hitting metal songs that are cutting-edge as well as original songs that pay homage to their musical roots. Pennhurst immediately began playing clubs and venues in their home State, opening for national acts such-as "Wretched". Pennhurst continues to write heavy metal and play energetic live shows around the Baltimore area. Heavy metal music
