About Andres Villamil
Born in 1976, colombian guitarist and composer Andrés Villamil studied at the National University of Colombia and the Cologne University of Music (Hochschule for Musik und Tanz Köln) in Germany. As soloist he has performed in Colombia Perú, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, Macedonia, Morocco, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece, Israel and United Kingdom. Andrés has recorded 8 musical productions of Classical and Latin American music.
He wrote and published his first book “Guitarra Colombiana”, a compilation of colombian rhythms for guitar. In addition to his classical training, Andres focuses on the music of South America, making arrangements and giving masterclasses about Latin American music around the world. His own compositions are especially influenced by the music of his native country Colombia. He is currently a guitar teacher at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
