Sashird Lao

Difficile de définir ce trio protéiforme sur lequel aucune étiquette ne peut adhérer! A mi chemin entre le nu-jazz et la soul-world, Sashird Lao brouillent les pistes s'amusant avec le groove et repoussant les frontières du jazz et des musiques actuelles bien au delà de ce que l'on connait. Ces trois musiciens niçois font sonner leur musique comme personne, intégrant des accents orientaux et indiens à une production soul envoutante. Créatifs et ludiques, ils n'utilisent aucun instrument harmonique pour se concentrer principalement autour des utilisations de la voix : basse vocale, beat-box, body drumming… et chant bien sûr! Le tout enrobé par les digressions d'un trombone impoli, les chorus surprenant d'un saxophone espiègle et la fraîcheur d'une flûte traversière. Une singularité que l'on retrouve sur le troisième album "Open thé Box". Un album que l'on écoute comme on lirait un carnet de voyage. Sashird Lao chante les contes d'un univers hybride où la quiétude des temples indiens et des pyramides d'Egypte rencontrent l'effervescence des capitales occidentales.
