See their myspace for more information: http://www.myspace.com/wearemongrel

(2) Three, two, one, FIRE!!!!

If you were asked to describe MONGREL in four words, you couldn’t go wrong with this motto. The four guys from Munich almost celebrate ass-kickin’hardcorepunk for many years now and can’t seem to get tired enhancing their very own style all the time. It’s all about angry, powerful and energetic in-your-face-music that’s making a firm stand, far away from pseudo-happy suburban look-I-gotta-tattoo-with-my-mum’s-name-wannabe-punk. Knowing that uncountable things go wrong in our world and that our wide-spread intolerance and inhumanity start with closed eyes, a lack of mutual interest and the disability to get to the bottom of things, MONGREL speed around like a 200-mph-wake-up-call that – once aroused by – makes it hard to get satisfied by MTV-Funpunk. And by the way they prove that straight, hard music with a serious political background doesn’t have to be inelegant or uncomplex:

Fast breaks are uniting with ambitious harmonies to a mighty and intoxicating mixture that is posing a completely new challenge: Keeping still…

From former times till now:

MONGREL, founded in 1998, is into punkrock for more than eight years now and can't get enough of it at all. Their debut album Sons of decreasing evolution, which has been released by Eisbär Records in 2001 and which was distributed in the States by Long Beach Records is almost sold out now. Subsequently to this album MONGREL had several song insertions in different kinds of compilations, or sports videos. Up to now they'ne been featured on more then 20 compilations, Surf-, Snowboard- and BMX-DVDs worldwide.

Amongst the most important were compilations like Eastpak’s Pro Punker Vol. 3 (featuring bands like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Goldfinger, Waterdown, Fallout Boy, The Unseen, Motion City Soundtrack), Dakine’s Last Name First-Surf-DVD, Wolverine Records' Chartbuster Vol. 5 (featuring NOFX and Die Toten Hosen) as well as Titus' Best Rookies 2005 and four differnet Long Beach Records compilations. The latest MONGREL release is a split-CD together with the Californian band Code 415 released by Fond of Life Records.

Besides having toured California already twice, Mongrel’s live experience covers more than 150 shows within the last three years, playing headliner shows, as well as sharing the stage with bands like Anti-Flag, Pennywise, The Distillers, Good Riddance, Venerea, The Lawrence Arms, deHeideroosjes, The Sainte Catherines, Normahl and many more. In 2004 MONGREL also appeared at the Skateboard Monster Mastership in Dortmund. So far, they've been touring in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg, USA, and the Netherlands.

MONGREL is (from left to right):

Gernot Krebs (bass, vox) is 26 years old. Gernot is studying at the University for two seperate master's degrees in social siences. Besides this he spent hell of a time in running Long Beach Records Europe, which you should check out! It's a ska, punk, dub label in south of Germany.

Stephan Suske (drums) is also 26 years old. Besides studying the law at University he's fully into drumming and gives lessons in doing so. You better check his website out. In addition to that he's like Gernot and Max a proprietary of the Fast Forward Stusios in Vierkirchen.

Max Krach (vox, git) is 26 years old. He has been studying at the University a couple of terms but then decided to become a sound engineer instead of a professor. Right now he's working at the Backstage Club in Munich as well as at the Fast Forwrad Studios in Vierkirchen, of which he is a proprietary. Actually he is making a living out of what he loves - that is music.

Tobi Weber (git, vox) is 25 years old and is working at a labeling/marketing company in Munich. In April 2006 he has become a father and since then he spends a lot of time with his little boy. Besides thais he's into snwoboarding, biking and he's always to be found when there's a party going on somewhere.
