About Tekhnotron
Calgary-based musician Metalmaester started the act in 2007 with a few industrial music covers, sound experiments and noise show performances. Four years later, Tekhnotron has gained more traction and started working on original music material. Keyboardist Josh Krahn joining the project at the same time. He has played live shows and contributed to songwriting in the studio. In 2011, the band obtained another keyboard player/vocalist- Rissy. As a result, Tekhnotron has fully established its musical character. Later in 2011, Josh left the band making it a duo. The duo released debut EP release "Essence of Machines" in 2012. Around the same time the band got some press exposure in underground “Unsigned Europa” web-zine and performed at the Terminus Festival – brand new Canadian industrial/electronic music festival. Before playing another bulk of concerts in late 2012, the formation had became a trio again, as David – another piano and keyboards player joined forces with Tekhnotron. A few months later, the band has released a self-titled mini album. This was a culmination of 2 years worth of songwriting, collaborations and evolution. The record blended a cocktail of music genres and experiments in five tracks. It was the combination of old and new, melodic singing and harsh synths, club tracks and sonic complexity. In early 2014, drummer Colin Christopher joined the project, empowering the band with his network of music promotion. Colin's label Dreaming of the Past Records and promotion agency Dreaming of the Past Management have brought new concert opportunities all across Alberta, Canada to the band. Fall of 2014 has marked the band's release of debut LP - Urban Network Underground. A concept album with grim futurological forecast, UNU comprised solid fusion of oldschool and modern electro-industrial. To promote the cyberpunk-driven theme, the album was released on a slick wearable dog tag-shaped USB drive. Canadian arts and culture magazine Beatroute has featured the band and the album in the December issue. The year 2015 is very fruitful for the band so far. Tekhnotron continues playing extensive live shows to support the release of Urban Network Underground. The band contributes remixes for various fellow electronic acts. Out There Music Promotion label has included Tekhnotron's song “Ghost in the Machine” into DIGITALBERTA electronic music compilation. Finally, the band has released a brand new free download single Concrete Planet. The band has collaborated and performed with many Alberta-based local musical acts including Psykkle, Mannequin Depressives, XSRY, Pandemik9, Virtual Terrorist, Digital Winter and Twitch. Tekhnotron also shared the stage with world class electronic acts such as ∆AIMON, Blush Response, Haujobb, Jakalope, God Module, Decoded Feedback, Dismantled, Imperative Reaction, Left Spine Down, iVardensphere, Aesthetic Perfection, X-RX, Blakopz, Comaduster and Cygnets. The list keeps on growing. http://tekhnotron.com http://soundcloud.com/tekhnotron
