Nigerian-American singer-songwriter KUKU allies his Yoruba roots with a uniquely soulful and folky sound. His haunting voice, percussive guitar stylings, and mindful yet playful songwriting create an air that is as much culturally resonating as it is worldly.

KUKU grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. In his late teens, he returned to the United States to pursue his university education. To afford his tuition, he soon enlisted in the United States Army. Though he calls his years in military service a blur, it is evident that his lifelong disciplinary background carries over to all his artistic endeavors. He taught himself to play guitar at the late age of 27. With the ability to accompany his singing and blossoming songwriting, a troubadour lifestyle was born.
