The last time I was at the Apollo theater, a tornado hit the building and the roof collapsed on us. It was unfortunate because I really loved the venue and the overall acoustics and environment inside was excellent for live music and who better to play than Clutch. I have seen them eight times in the last six years and every time they play 17 songs and a three song encore. Yet every show, I hear new songs, the very every show and make the experience unique for the audience. I’m happy to hear that the Apollo theater was able to rebuild too fast. I was surprised to hear about this concert.

Great show! We were able to get in the second row. This was our second time seeing The Native Howl. They should be headliners! Blacktop Mojo did not disappoint. I swear they are even better live! Clutch was phenomenal! He makes sure to give the full audience his attention. I've never seen anyone else do that the full performance. That man can entertain!!! If you get the chance to see either of these bands, GO!

Well, maybe I'm ignorant and "old" but I'm still a rocker, if you will. It has been a while since I've been to a concert, but not so long that I can't appreciate instrument's that are played well, and good lyrics. Again, maybe this is my fault for attending a concert at a small venue, I don't know. What I do know is that every band I listened to that night, turned the volume up for the bass and the drums so high I felt like I was waaay too close to the fireworks! I could barely/not hear the other instrument's that looked like they were being played. The bass hits were percussive in my chest and so frequent I felt like someone was trying to break up my kidney stones from the outside! Seriously, that crap was too loud (and yes I was wearing hearing protection). When Clutch finally played my favorite song, I could barely understand or hear the lyrics. A whole bunch of people damaged their hearing that night... I've got some friends and family members who damaged their hearing and we all suffer now. They do because they can't hear and we do because it's so frustrating to try and talk to them. I like Clutch and their music, just not in a venue like the Roseland theater, and definitely not so loud.

About Clutch

Neil Fallon – vocals & guitar
Jean-Paul Gaster – drums
Dan Maines – bass
Tim Sult – guitar

CLUTCH shares more in common with The Grateful Dead, Rush, and the Allman Brothers than their heavy riffs and heady twists-of-phrase might suggest. Because like those bands, the supporters who adore CLUTCH are there for the experience, community, and authentic connection.

To love CLUTCH is to feel a sense of ownership, membership, and belonging.

Seneca Valley High School classmates Neil Fallon (vocals), Tim Sult (guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums) share an unshakeable musical and personal bond now three decades strong. Shaped by the same region which birthed Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Rites Of Spring, CLUTCH crafts hyper-literate and libertine jams informed by hardcore fury and fuzzy, athletic, stoner rock.

A worldwide cabal of fans and critics cherish the band’s dense and diverse catalog of underground classics, released through major labels, indies, and since 2009, Clutch’s own Weathermaker imprint. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach, the band’s thirteenth studio album, is a slamming summary of everything that makes the band great and another giant leap forward into career longevity.

“There’s no question that Clutch etched themselves a name in the pantheon of great rock bands,” Lambgoat wrote in 2004. Classic Rock Magazine counted 2013’s Earth Rocker and 2015’s Psychic Warfare among the 50 Best Rock Albums of the 2010s. Rolling Stone described 2018’s Book of Bad Decisions as “bathed in the grit and liberal fuzz tone that have made their live shows legendary.”

Those live shows over the years include tours with Slayer, System Of A Down, and Marilyn Manson, and more recent co-headlining treks with Dropkick Murphys, Killswitch Engage, and Mastodon. Like Slayer or Iron Maiden, CLUTCH outlasted rock bands anchored to “hit songs” and the pressure of replicating them. The foursome from Germantown, Maryland, isn’t bound by trends. Across 13 studio albums and assorted releases since 1991, they’ve earned a reputation as one of the best around.
