Brian McCormick

Brian McCormick is a Rochester, NY native at home in music that draws directly from raw emotion. Raised on his grandfather’s Kentucky country and his father’s CCR tapes, Brian was filled with music that had both the razor edge of emotion and the hook based sensibilities of pop. Brian finds inspiration in those artists who lead listeners into the heart of a moment, showcased by local musicians like Jim Drew and Jesse Sprinkle. His most recent work channels some popular acoustic folk/pop musicians and you might hear strains reminiscent of Damien Rice and Jack Johnson. His current recording project is “Becoming One,” a collection of visions and interpretations of his solo work. This fully produced EP leads listeners down the hopefulness, joy and longing of late twentysomething life, blended with classical imagery and extended metaphor. Engineered and produced by the incomparable Jesse Sprinkle (Demonhunter, Dead Poetic, Poor Old Lu) at BlueBrick Studios, the project is both widely palatable and, as Brian assembles a band, a herald of things to come.
