About Chelsea Summers/Music

Country music artist, Chelsea Summers writes her own music, sings and plays guitar. She's got the looks. She's got the talent. She's got the sound. In the words of Grammy-winner Linda Davis (and mother of Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum), Chelsea is "a new star on the rise!" (Click here to see the video of Linda inviting Chelsea on stage to perform.) Chelsea was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Her parents moved her to the South Carolina lowcountry when she was in the fourth grade. She is a graduate of Ashley Ridge High School in Summerville, SC, and now currently resides in Nashville, TN. When not on tour, you can catch Chelsea live in many venues in and around the Nashville, TN area. Chelsea started teaching herself to play guitar at 13-years old with the help of several YouTube guitar gurus. Her first live performance was at the Coastal Carolina Fair's talent show (where she won the first round but was eliminated by either Trixie the magic poodle or Gary the kazoo maestro in the second round). She entered a hip-hop talent show at the old Charleston Navy base where she performed an acoustic version of a Beyoncé song. She didn't win, but she was honored when several fans jumped up from their seats into the aisles dancing and singing along with her. After performing at more local talent shows (which she never even placed) and singing for "too many charity events to count," word quickly got around that there was a "young female talent in Summerville." Before too long, Chelsea started getting paid to play at various music venues around Summerville and Charleston. From there, word continued to spread and Chelsea found herself being a very in-demand acoustic performer, often playing 3-4 shows a week during the summer months while school was out. At 15, Chelsea won an online contest through the then TopBlip.com (now Gigg.com), to open for one of her favorite bands, Parachute. The show was held at Ziggy's in Winton-Salem in front of some 800 fans. In the end of 2013 she opened for national act ZZ Ward at the Altar Bar and Matt White at the Hard Rock Cafe in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Chelsea started spending more time in Nashville, TN (a.k.a. Music City and/or Nash Vegas), where she was lucky enough to have been chosen as 1 of only 50 songwriters nationwide to attend NSAI's Advanced Songwriting Camp. Since the August 2012 release of her ballad-heavy debut EP "Unspoken", Chelsea's style has emerged more along the lines of Miranda Lambert meets Grace Potter and Holly Williams. Heavier, more intense contemporary Country music songs are just the start of what we expect to see in the future from this up and coming young artist. Finally, after years of failed attempts, Chelsea won her first talent competition during the Charlotte Music Awards 2014 Women in Country Showcase. As a result of the victory, Chelsea will be performing at The Mint in Los Angeles on November 6, 2014. Also in 2014, Chelsea has opened for YouTube sensation Tyler Ward at the Altar Bar in Pittsburgh. She was Chris Lane's opener at the famed Music Farm in downtown Charleston, SC for the official Florida-Georgia Line after-concert party. She has been invited to play Pittsburgh's well-known Stage AE adjacent to Heinz Field to help kick-off the University of Pittsburgh's football season immediately preceding their home opener August 30, 2014. Sunday, August 31, 2014, Chelsea has been invited to open for the Eli Young Band by the Pittsburgh Steelers as a part of Heinz RibFest. Chelsea loves sharing her music and connecting with fans.
