I’ve come to realize the missing piece in local music. It’s something vital. It’s something subtle. The answer is fun. Bands seem to either put themselves in a hole with the genre they choose to play, or lose focus on the main goal of the music they create. We all need to learn to have a blast. That’s why we do it right? With a musical collection spanning a vast assortment of genres, BroadStreetDown exemplifies the bare back ideals of the everyday, hungry musician. This phoenix of a band has one goal, they want to reach out and share the lightning bolt. They want to give you what we all need, which is a universal love of music. After the crumbling of past bands had taken sanctuary at their feet, BSD looked at the big picture, the reoccurring failures and the bleakness of an un-assuring future. With the common goal of local success and musical exploration, the band hopes to break out in 2012 and show whoever is willing to listen, that good music still exists. The band is made of up five gifted local veterans. With the unique prowess of controlling three vocalists, the band plans on setting themselves apart, whilst remaining relatable to local kids. Tim Burke, Brian Horan, Brian “Twiggy” Murray and Sean Burke are the five fingers that make up this Philly fist. With backgrounds in post-hardcore, pop-punk, grunge, alternative and even acoustic, the boys have trimmed the fat and turned talent to muscle to make an impact. Their vast stretch of musical influences is nothing short of an impressive resume. From Brand New, to Stevie Ray Vaughn, to nirvana, to Blink 182, this band brings aspects that built them as musicians to the table to create the powerhouse that is BroadStreetDown.
