About Simon Marks
Beginning his career with an invite to perform as part of the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival (2009) troubadour singer/songwriter Simon Marks has gone on to perform thousands of shows both domestically and overseas, selling over 15,000 albums along the way.
Performing stages from festivals to bars, barns, house concerts, art galleries and everything in-between, including once aboard a sinking ship, Simon Marks is nothing if not adaptable as he shares with his loyal listeners a show that is a joy be a part of, and to be experienced at least once in your lifetime.
Whether solo or accompanied by bandmates Shane McGrath (guitar), Hamish Davidson (fiddle/banjo), James Chandler (bass) and Georgia Taylor (drums) Simon shares with audiences’ songs and stories that are occasionally sad, more often funny, but always entertaining as he winds his way through the body of works that span his 5-album career.
Fortunate to have received significant airplay via ABC Radio for both ‘Wally’- The Mick Thomas Song and ‘Misfit’ from his ‘Big River, Little Stories’ album, Simon also received an unexpected, yet welcomed induction to the National Library of Australia Music Archive for his song Heather. (based on the life of Heather Vicenti, co-author of the book Too Many Tears).
Recently playing the GoNorth Arts Festival (2023) Simon and band are set to release new works in early 2024. These new works being inspired by a recent Artist in Residence position that saw Simon immersed in life (as a singer-songwriter) while based on a working farm in regional N.S.W. during the week-long residency.
