About Amore ad Lunam
All started back then in the year 2006 Amore Ad Lunam’s lead singer and songwriter Malcolm Baez after a few Black Metal projects decided to start composing some “Gothic Doom” material being influenced and wanting that Beauty and the Beast sound from bands as Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy, (Old) Lacrimas Profundere. In the failing process searching for a female vocalist and musicians with the same interest he decided to compose and play for another bands such as Grasgarben & Fuego Eterno (Psychedelic, Classic Rock / Trip Hop.), Senium (Atmospheric Funeral Doom) & In Emptiness (Symphonic Black Metal / DSBM.) All of this never having stopped writing his own songs. He was already in love with music, but he had to fall in love with her, to really fall in love with his music. After a breakup he started to write songs and more songs and more songs in a beautiful and sickly way. Each by each of every song he finished, he was magically feeling better, feeling a greater love than the one who left. After the 2nd breakup he wrote three songs “7 Vidas 7 Lunas”, “Condenado a Morir”y “Robarte la Fe). That night, after having finished the songs, he noticed he was completely cured. So his music became his antidote and the antidote became his reality. In late 2007 he finally started to record the first demo as a one man project under the first band name “Noctem Aeternus” with a sound more Darkwave as “Diary of dreams” and Industrial Metal as “Rammstein”. Pretty fun, great ideas, but low budget recordings. In 2008 he entered the studio with a great musician and friend Juan Luis De Jesus Lead Guitarist from “In Emptiness” but as a drummer. They recorded the first Gothic Rock Single (In)Sanity this time as “Amor E Morte” but before opening a band myspace and posting the song Malcolm decided finally to name the band “Amore Ad Lunam” as a reminding of the love to a woman, a mother, a sister or fiancé. Reuniting all those different aspects of loving and comparing the woman with the moon as a divinity, a supreme Goddess who deserves to be worshiped. Followed by 2nd Single “Scary Sweet Girl” and 3rd “Only Seeking for You”. After posting the songs on Myspace A.A.L experimented many good feed backs from fans and other artists as William from “Opera Noire” and Sean Rose from “Icon & the Black Roses” words to never forget. Immediately after a few months Malcolm met Melek Sierra guitarist, bassist, producer and sound engineer, thanks to a friend in common that made the appointment now A.A.L would have the opportunity to start recording a full length in better quality, but the fact was, that Amore Ad Lunam wasn’t complete to perform live. All change that same year, when in late 2008 a close friend of Malcolm, singer and doomster brother Hector Rivera Diaz “Sullen” from the band Senium helped him find some live session members for the project: Orlando Lugo (Lead Guitarist), Alexis Rodriguez (Keyboards), Anthony Pagan (Bass Player) and Fernanda Mercy (Drummer). Amore Ad Lunam made his first act on February 14th 2009. Since that date A.A.L has become part of the Goth, Rock and Metal scene of the island. Supporting acts and sharing stage with many great bands from here and outsiders as “H.I.M”, “Clever Vicious Circle”, “Alcest”, and local bands such as “Drama Fa”, “Megadriel”, “La Otra Mitad” “Dantesco”, “Machete”, “Pacto de Sangre”, “Pandemik”, “Doomlord”, “Avatos”, “The Withering Beauty” and many others. On late 2009, Xavier Ortiz became part of the band with his great performance guitar playing method and presence. Carlos VH Santiago (Lead Guitar) and Roberth Torres (Drums) joined the band on 2010. Both who also studied music at the same college that Malcolm attended. Malcolm met them from the musician scene after talking and getting wasted on alcohol in the name of rock and roll music and women. Roberth Torres was well known on the local metal scene and played with bands such as “Massive Destruction” (Thrash) and “Ill” (Death Doom). After a few months he had to leave the band for personal reasons. After many shows Roberth was replaced with current drummer Armando “Armani” Gonzales alias “Strong Hands”. After many great dates and tours played in the island from 2010 to 2012, They decided to take a break from the gigs and entered the studio to record their first EP title “Sweet Emptiness” the EP was practically finished but for some reasons they decided to go for the full length, keeping those tracks in the vault aside more than 350 compositions and songs from Mr. Baez the Apocalyptic Songwriting Machine. Actually Amore Ad Lunam is at the Studio recording a 2nd full length that will be title “White Wings, Raven Soul”. The album tells the stories from the road of a Jack N’ Coke low budget strip club addict, bad influence and biker who really knows where to find the fun in life. The first single for the new album is already recorded and mastered titled “I’m Inside You”. The promotional video of the single will start production in the month of December, and should be available for the fans in late January 2016. The video will be recorded in Puerto Rico.
