About John Wean
JW. Are four Scottish lads who write songs about love, life and their biggest interest – girls. The band was formed Autumn 2009 in Uddingston by Conor and Jude after they spent all summer listening to records, chatting to girls and writing songs. Soon they were joined by Simon and Stu and the journey began. "Like most bands, we made all the usual mistakes: didn't rehearse enough; saved up all our hard-earned money but went into the wrong studio with the wrong people before we had the chance to develop as a band. At the time we were blinded by our enthusiasm and thought we had some great recordings but now, looking back, they were rubbish, only fit for the bin." "We had a chance meeting with an A&R man at the end of 2010. He just sat us down and gave us some advice. He got us to take stock and lock ourselves away in the rehearsal room for a spell. As a result we are going through a bit of a development process and things have really started to come together. We have also been concentrating on our fan base and have given up our day jobs. It just feels that we are taking it a bit more seriously and we now feel like a band - and our fans have seen the difference." "December 2010 saw us support Tom Hingley at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut Glasgow. We sold 150 tickets and could have sold more. We were then asked back by the promoter and in April this year we supported a great band, Young Rebel Set, at King Tut's. That time we sold 250 tickets - the place only holds 300 people - and it was a great night." "Since then we have been demoing material, ready to work with Producer/Engineer Ewan Davis and things are sounding good. We are also receiving a little bit of well needed direction - and that must be working as, the way the recordings are turning out, we are even surprising ourselves." Later this year will see the release of our first single. Download the E.P for FREE from our soundcloud page https://soundcloud.com/wearejohnwean To contact management click about for details
