Sruti Ram & Ishwari, the vocalists in SRI Kirtan have gained fans and accolades for their signature style of passionate, heart-opening kirtan. The duo interweave their majestic harmonies with spirited musicians creating a sound that uplifts the spirit and nourishes the soul. Both classically trained, Sruti Ram has sung kirtan as his personal practice for 35 years while Ishwari has written and performed her own music for 30 years, embracing kirtan 10 years ago. Upon meeting in 2004, the two recognized the powerful compatibility in their styles and one of the most exciting forces in kirtan was formed. Ishwari is an interfaith minister who brings 30 years of musical journeying through the worlds of folk, punk, opera, electronic & world spiritual music to meet Sruti Ram’s background in Gregorian chant, opera, doo-wop and 40 years of kirtan and puja to create an explosive fusion of ancient mantra into some of the most catchy tunes ever heard in this genre.
