Dreamboogie are: Rebecca Davey, (Vocals); Sam Buckley (Guitar); Connor O’Neill (Bass); Robert B Dillon (Drums)
Vocalist Rebecca brings elements of her idols - the Blues vocalists of the 1920s to the act, (Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey etc). She aims to re-interpret the spirit of thos​​e great performers for today’s audiences, using modern technology whilst retaining the attitude of the music.
Rebecca conveys the truths upon which the Blues are based.
“Blues is about the truth” she states. “The joys, and sorrows of life, the challenges and excitements, love and sex - Blues addresses them all”.
Sam Buckley (guitar) plays in the style of, Albert King, Freddie King. He takes note bending and single string playing to an extreme.
Bassist Connor O’Neill, performs on the fretless bass. His style brings a new, yet timeless sound to the music. Sliding between notes, laying down a firm groove, provides a solid foundation to the music.
Robert B Dillon, (drums) lays down the rock solid​​ grooves, in the pocket. Influenced by Gene Krupa, he brings a similar flair to his performance.
The band is the 2011 and 2015 MBAS Blues Performer of the Year, representing Melbourne at the International Blues Challenge, held annually in Memphis.
They have released 3 albums, each has charted on the Australian Blues & Roots Chart. Their debut album, I’m Ready, attaining the Number#1 position.
