About TrafficjaM
Mike Crist Mike has been drumming for over 40 years in a wide range of musical genres. He began as a rocker at 14 drumming in a latin rock band, played in a wedding band during his college years, later switched to folk and world music, and then backed to rock with the Cedar Rapids bar band “Subject to Change”. He learned to play the Bodhran for irishjam, incorporating a drum kit from the 1920s-1940’s . Mike played drums with The Mike Maas Trio and plays with The classic rock band The Mockingbyrds. For a change of pace you can see him keeping time with The Polka Kings of Walford "and an one and an two..." Jazz is his new found love "always different, moving forward, touching the past" Tim Fees Tim has been playing keyboard and stringed instruments since the 1960s individually as an accompanist and in various groups and various genres. Tim's parents helped him buy his first bass guitar in college when he joined a jazz trio very similar to Trafficjam. That experience has never left him. Tim now plays guitar, bass, mandolin, piano, organ, accordion, and mouth harp. Groups include Straightback Chair, Nightingale, Guttenberg German Band, and the Silbertaler Trio, which you may also find on Facebook. Tim plays pipe organ and other instruments for the Disciples Strings and Singers of First Christian Church of Coralville. Devin van Holsteijn Devin has been playing saxophone since his father gave him a tenor in 5th grade. He has been in trios, combos, and big bands throughout his life, and studied saxophone with Dr. James Romain at Drake University. A founding member of the Ian Copland quartet, he was also a member of Drake Jazz One, the Drake Wind Symphony and several saxophone quartets during his time there, and has played in everything from community theatres to worship bands since. Jazz for every occasion. Songs and stories from every genre and decade re imagined on saxophone, bass and drum set.
