About Jonathan Hape

The Midwestern world is currently full of boys who decided, after their suburban hearts were broken, they should write songs. These boys older brothers listened to The Promise Ring. Jonathan Hape was listening too.

Although not trendy enough for the record shop owner nor accessible enough for the frat boys, this Columbus
Ohioans quirky yet tasteful instrumentation set to cool story songs led Jonathan out of the Midwest and into the
hearts of concert goers nationwide.

After forming many influential local bands in his hometown of Mansfield, Jonathan decided to try a softer, more thoughtful style of songwriting. After four months of basement recordings, Letters to India was born. People
seemed to like it. It was an indie pick for locals, making Columbus Alive journalist John Rosss top 5 local albums, as well as nationals, being named Indie Pick of the Month by HM Magazines editor/publisher Douglas Van Pelt.

After self-releasing Im Awake/Im Asleep, Hapes heavily layered DIY followup in 2006, he set out on numerous
tours throughout the Midwest as well as a national tour with fellow Columbus musician John Reuben and
Arkansas Deas Vail. Jonathan has also played with artists such as Low Skies, Discover America, and Fair. The album was reviewed and admired by the Toledo Collegian, Columbus Alive, the Dayton Paper, and HM Magazine.

Both Letters to India and Im Awake/Im Asleep have been featured on college radio programs and regional/national podcasts.

Currently, Hape is writing material for the next album, "Carnivore" and playing throughout Ohio and its neighboring states.

In February, Jonathan will be starting a slew of tours. The first consisting of shows from Pittsburgh to Omaha.
