About Paracuta

In a time when radio is dominated by solo artists and groups defined by a singular voice, Alternative-Rock band Paracutá is fueled by the energy that only collaboration, and creative friction can produce – crafting a unified sound through the filter of a Peruvian and two native New Yorkers.

Their self-titled debut album Paracutá embodies what this method of writing can create – merging elements of Americana, Power Pop, College Rock, and Post-Punk. The album touches on topics that are both intimate and universal – centering around lyrics about change, acceptance, escape, and liberation.

“We tried to capture the adolescent experience of finding that new album you completely wore out listening in your bedroom”, said vocalist and guitarist Caroline Feldmeier.

“We didn’t have a plan of what the album was going to sound like, but once we started, we found the elements pretty quickly,” says vocalist and guitarist Ernesto Lúcar. “The album is the culmination of a two-year process made possible by the freedom afforded an unsigned band.”

Paracutá was recorded and produced by the band in their studio space in Astoria, Queens and was mixed by Kieran Kelly (Sufjan Stevens, Aaron Lee Tasjan) at The Buddy Project.
