Mavka

The band was formed with the name Crossworlds in 2013 by Iryna Lazer (lead-singer, composer, performer) and Oleksiy Mikriukov (composer).
The first mini-album 'Ivana Kupala Night' (2014) was released after productive collaboration they had exclusively in the internet exchanging ideas and audio samples.
The second album 'Day and Night' was released a year later in 2015.
Since then Iryna Lazer began performing on-stage by herself using loop-station, voice effectors and synthesizers creating original polyphonic compositions in the Ukrainian language and her own invented 'Mermaid' glossolalia.
In 2015 another musician Taras Lazer joined the band to help creating compositions and add new stylistics. Due to growing amount of live concerts it was decided to change the name of the band to Mavka that reflects more deeply the real essence of the music.
In 2016 and 2017 members of Mavka wrote soundtrack and took part as actors in the movie 'The Tale of Money'.
Now the band keeps working on the album of Ukrainian folk songs interpreted with loop-station and electronica music samples. We also plan to release an album of mermaid songs written in the glossolalia created by our lead-singer.
