Sandra Lilia Velásquez and Sean Dixon, the Brooklyn-based duo behind SLV, embody a collision of worlds. Velásquez serves as frontwoman of lauded Latin outfit Pistolera, while Dixon plays drums in experimental electronic ensemble Zammuto; but together, they’ve carved out an exciting new path for themselves. SLV first emerged from the studio in 2013 with a debut EP, Dig Deeper, produced by heavyweight bassist Meshell Ndegeocello. Their full length debut,This Kind (released on 5.5.15), is a down-tempo confection of 80s-inspired synthpop and new wave, with Velásquez showcasing her continued growth as a songwriter and dreamy vocals that recall Sade’s smoky sensuality. www.SLVmusic.com
